Day 5: Ushuaia - El Calafate
Breakfast at the hotel. Free morning. Opportunity to optionally visit the End of the World Museum or take a hike in the Martial Glacier, from where we can get a spectacular view of Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel. Transfer to the airport to take the flight to El Calafate. Arrival, assistance, and reception at the airport by our staff, and transfer to the selected hotel.
Day 6: El Calafate
Breakfast at the hotel. Minitrekking on Perito Moreno Glacier (with park entrance): Transfer from the hotel in El Calafate to the port located in the "Bajo las sombras" bay - approximately 6 km before the Glacier Viewpoint - where we board to cross Lake Rico, arriving at the southwest shore after approximately 20 minutes to the glacier. Upon reaching the ice edge, guides will place crampons on the participants, who will receive instructions on how to move on the ice. The trek on the glacier lasts approximately 2 hours, during which a variety of ice formations such as cracks, seracs, sinkholes, small lagoons, etc., can be appreciated.
The walk is moderate. The ice surface on which we walk is irregular but firm and safe. Explanations regarding the flora, fauna, and general glaciology of the region will be provided, as well as the particular phenomenon that occurs in Glaciar P. Moreno and eventually causes its rupture.
At the end of the outing, we return to the refuge through the lush Magellanic forest.
A mini bus is available for those needing transport from El Calafate; in such cases, at the end of the excursion - and before returning to El Calafate - passengers will be taken to the Glacier Viewpoint and its walkways, in a visit lasting approximately 1 hour.
All services operate daily, and there is a permanent bilingual mountain guide service at the glacier.
